A Labor of Love

This was a group project my team recently wrapped. We were tasked to create a fashion look book inspired by a particular brand or designer. During a brainstorming session, a beautiful moment of synchronicity occurred between us all: The Seventies!

Our concept statement:

This look book pays homage to the work of legendary fashion designer, Stephen Burrows, and highlights his influence on modern-day fashion trends, specifically referencing color-blocking, and ultimately celebrating styles that are directly influenced by seventies fashion and music with bold colors, memorable patterns, and fabrics.

Stephen Burrows is an American fashion designer who participated in the “Battle of Versailles” the 1973 Bombshell France America gala that changed fashion history.

Burrows is famous for creating designs with dazzling combinations of color, pattern, and textiles such as leather, suede, and Whiting & Davis chain-mail creations. He is also memorable for bringing the talent of African-American models to the runway.
