In My Bag

June Ambrose, while on one of her famous shopping trips (that she shares specifically to give me life) found a piece – I believe in Louis Vuitton – that made her exclaim something like, “imagine me, running through the city, feely haute!” That is a phrase I’ve never forgotten and a feeling that I can certainly identify with.

Since coming across the brand’s Instagram several months ago, whenever I now imagine myself running through the city and feeling haute (which I literally never do) it’s always with a Mifland bag in hand! In my reverie, I’m traipsing through crosswalks à la June or Carrie Bradshaw (don’t judge me) in a casual, cute and comfy outfit; complete with some Pyer Moss sneakers. I’m dashing to a local social spot – let’s say Pinewood Social or The Local Distro – to work on bzarhodgpodg.com; Mifland rucksack in hand, holding my entire life: headphones, laptop, wallet, keys...

When you happen upon that dress or sweater or bag – that sequin blazer I found at Macy’s one time that would’ve SERVED any NYE party! – that makes you stop and stare in awe for a second, you’re having a moment. It captures you; excites you! It makes you gasp immediately and uncontrollably upon the sight of it! It speaks to you on a visceral level. Suddenly, the possibilities: You see yourself wearing it to that NYE party (I should’ve bought that blazer,) to work; or, maybe on the busy city streets on your way to grab coffee at your favorite spot and to work on your passion project and people-watch. Great clothing and accessories have the power to instantly transport you into that fashion moment.

Mark my words: One day, I will be “makin' my way downtown, walkin' fast, faces pass”…with my Mifland bag!
