No Glove, No Love?: Prada Menswear FW21

Ok, so, full disclosure: I’m not particularly moved by the clothes themselves of this show. They’re just not my personal style, with the exception of some of the outerwear…a few of those coats, I’d rock! But for me, the stand out pieces of this collection are THE GLOVES!!

Sarah Osei, in the Highsnobiety post, took my sentiments exactly: “But Pradaphiles still got their hit in the accessories department. …Just take our favorite item for example – can we talk about those gloves? Prada and Simons' menswear presentation invigorated one of the Covid-era's favorite accessories with a nifty little pouch that surely already has fast fashion brands in over-drive trying to recreate the glove-purse.” When I first got glimpse of the gloves, I thought, how appropriate these are! Granted, gloves aren’t unusual for wintry wear, but in the age of Covid, additional protection is golden. And including the functionality of an attached purse is just…je ne sais quoi! Not to mention the eye-popping colors and the way they play with the tones of accompanying garments. There’s also something about the hem of the sleeves ever so perfectly meeting the top of the pouch that is so incredibly satisfying— practically ASMR for me.

I’ve been searching the Prada website for photos of the gloves, but also for the price…as if I could afford them!! * insert crying emoji here!! *
